July 4th in the Texas Hill Country: Parades, Fireworks and Where to Watch

The Fourth of July in the Texas Hill Country is small-town Americana at its absolute best — Main Street parades, fireworks bursting over the lakes, and live music under a wide-open sky. And 2026 is a big one: it lands on a Saturday and marks America’s 250th birthday, so towns across the Hill Country are going all out.

Whether you want a hometown parade, a barge-launched fireworks show over a Highland Lake, or a free music festival on the river, here is where to be on Saturday, July 4, 2026 — town by town, with the official links so you can confirm the details and times for yourself.

Fredericksburg

Fredericksburg does the Fourth in classic style. The Main Street parade is the centerpiece — floats stage around 8 a.m. and the parade steps off at 10 a.m. — and the city’s fireworks light up Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park (432 Lady Bird Drive) at around 9:30 p.m. There are also Fourth of July horse races at the fairgrounds and plenty of Main Street shopping and German food in between. One note: the parade was rained out in 2025, so for 2026 it is worth confirming on the official page before you make the drive. Details: Visit Fredericksburg and the Fredericksburg parade site.

Marble Falls

For my money, Marble Falls has one of the prettiest shows in the Hill Country: the fireworks are launched from a barge in the middle of Lake Marble Falls and mirror off the water. The free celebration is at Lakeside Park, with the pool open free in the afternoon, food vendors from 5 p.m., live music in the evening, and fireworks at about 9:15 p.m., best viewed from Lakeside Park Beach. Bring lawn chairs and blankets; no glass or alcohol in the park, and expect a partial lake closure and road closures around the launch. Details: City of Marble Falls.

Kerrville

Kerrville’s Fourth on the River at Louise Hays Park (202 Thompson Drive) is a free, all-day music festival presented by Arcadia Live, running from around 11 a.m. with live bands, a beer garden, food trucks, a cornhole tournament, and a kids zone, capped by fireworks over the Guadalupe at about 9:45 p.m. It is tied into America’s 250th this year, so expect it to be a big one. Details: City of Kerrville and Arcadia Live.

New Braunfels

On the southern edge of the Hill Country, New Braunfels throws its Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular over Landa Park and Landa Lake, with H-E-B as the longtime sponsor and fireworks around 9:15 p.m. The evening starts at the Dance Slab with the final Live @ Landa concert around 6 p.m., and the show is viewable from across the park, the golf course, and Fischer Park. Nearby, historic Gruene hosts its own “Rock the Block” party with food, music, and vendors. Details: City of New Braunfels.

Boerne

Boerne’s free Independence Day fireworks show runs about 20–25 minutes starting around 9:15 p.m. The best public viewing is from the Kendall County Fairgrounds and Champion High School, with a food truck over at City Park. Bring chairs and blankets, skip the glass containers, and leave tents at home so everyone can see. Details: City of Boerne.

Wimberley

Wimberley’s Fourth is pure small-town charm. The beloved 4th of July parade rolls down RR12 at 10 a.m., ending downtown near City Hall, and the VFW Post 6441 rodeo runs several nights over the holiday with fireworks after each performance. The Lions Club Market Days add even more to the weekend. Details: Visit Wimberley. (Planning a longer stay? Here are my favorite things to do in Wimberley.)

More Hill Country fireworks nearby

A few more worth the short drive: Lakeway on Lake Travis does a morning parade (around 8:30 a.m. from the Live Oak Golf Course) plus a hometown celebration — see Lake Travis fireworks. Out on Lake LBJ, the free, family-favorite Kingsland AquaBoom sends fireworks up over the Llano River. For a full regional roundup, KVUE keeps an updated 2026 Central Texas Fourth of July list.

How to plan around the crowds

A few things I have learned the hard way: book lodging early — Fredericksburg and the lake towns fill up weeks ahead, and 2026 will be busier than usual. Arrive well before dark for fireworks; lake and road closures around the launch zones start in the late afternoon, so get on the correct side of the water early. Most park celebrations are free but ban glass and alcohol, so pack a soft cooler, lawn chairs, blankets, and plenty of water — July in Texas is no joke. And if you have a nervous dog, fireworks night is the night to leave them home with a fan and some white noise.

Make a weekend of it

The Fourth falls on a Saturday in 2026, so it is a natural long weekend. Pair the fireworks with a morning at a swimming hole, an afternoon on a Hill Country winery patio, and a slow Main Street stroll. If you are basing yourself in town, my guides to Wimberley and Fredericksburg have plenty to fill the daylight hours.

Common questions

Where are the best July 4th fireworks in the Texas Hill Country?

The lake shows are the showstoppers: Marble Falls launches from a barge on Lake Marble Falls, New Braunfels fires over Landa Lake, and Kerrville’s show reflects off the Guadalupe at Louise Hays Park. Fredericksburg and Boerne both put on big, free hometown displays as well.

What time do the fireworks start on July 4th in the Hill Country?

Most Hill Country shows begin once it is fully dark, roughly 9:15 to 9:45 p.m. Marble Falls, New Braunfels, and Boerne start around 9:15, Fredericksburg around 9:30, and Kerrville around 9:45. Confirm the exact time on each city’s official page.

Is the Fredericksburg July 4th parade happening in 2026?

The Main Street parade is a long-running tradition and is planned for Saturday, July 4, 2026, as part of America’s 250th celebration. It was rained out in 2025, though, so check the official Visit Fredericksburg page to confirm before you go.

Is anything special happening for the Fourth in 2026?

Yes — 2026 is the United States Semiquincentennial, the country’s 250th birthday. Several Hill Country towns, including Kerrville, are building their celebrations around the milestone, so expect bigger crowds and bigger shows than a typical year.

Do I need to book lodging ahead for July 4th in the Hill Country?

Absolutely. Fredericksburg, Marble Falls, and the lake towns book up well in advance for the holiday weekend, and the 250th will only add demand. Reserve as early as you can, and look just outside the busiest towns if you are searching last-minute.
