Trip planner FAQ

What should I pack for a Hill Country swimming hole?

Water shoes (the bottoms are rocky and slick), a quick-dry towel, a dry bag for your phone and keys, reef-safe sunscreen, and cash — spots like Blue Hole and Jacob’s Well are often cash-only and need a reservation in summer.

Do I need a reservation?

Often, yes. Blue Hole in Wimberley, Jacob’s Well, Hamilton Pool, and Enchanted Rock all cap daily entry and book up on summer weekends. Reserve before you drive out.

When is the best time to visit the Texas Hill Country?

Spring (March to May) for wildflowers and mild weather, and fall (October to November) for cooler days. Summer is hot — go early, hydrate, and stay near the water.
